Recommendations for IT Support Specialists in Medical Clinics

March 24, 2010

PITO has worked with Telus and the Ministry of Health Services to put together a list of IT recommendations for medical clinics that transition from the Internet to the Private Physician Network (PPN), as part of their implementation of a PITO-qualified EMR system.

“We have gathered feedback from all the parties involved in the installation and testing of technical equipment at medical practices in BC and put together a list of IT recommendations to ensure the clinics’ successful migration to the PPN,” Bill Stringfellow, PITO Technical Support Program Manager, said. “Technology is getting more complex and so we encourage all clinics to have IT support specialists in order to mitigate risks and reap the benefits of using the PPN,” he added.

The contract with Telus to build, implement and manage the PPN was signed in December 2007 and the PPN Core Network went live April 2008. Find out more about the key features and benefits of the secure network (PPN).
